The GBF and inland waters: From targets to implementation

The Nature Conservancy presents the GBF and inland waters: From targets to implementation

With the adoption of the GBF, Parties to the CBD have committed to protecting and restoring 30% of the world’s inland waters by 2030 – critically important targets given the precipitous decline of freshwater species populations. This session will address how Parties can operationalize global GBF targets for inland waters at regional and national scales. Attendees will be provided with tools, guidance, and examples from around the world for measuring, tracking, and effectively conserving inland waters, their biodiversity, and the benefits that those ecosystems provide to communities. A new IUCN WCPA publication on protecting and conserving inland waters will be highlighted.
