Supporting Indigenous Peoples to advance implementation of Target 3+

Small Room

Panel with presentations and discussions for advancing the recognition of Indigenous Peoples' and local communities' rights in area-based conservation: experiences on inclusive dialogues and policy trainings addressing opportunities and barriers.

A panel of presentations and interactive discussion in which Indigenous peoples’ organisations and representatives will share their work at the national and local levels to review, discuss and support advancing their rights to their lands, territories and resources, through engagement with the implementation of Target 3 in their countries. The panel will include discussion of the three ‘pathways’ envisaged in Target 3 and reflections from Indigenous peoples’ representatives from Guyana, Kenya, Colombia, and Thailand on how these interact with securing their rights, including the results from the Traditional Knowledge Summit and an OECM LAC-focused dialogue taking place before COP.
