Lasting Change at Scale for Biodiversity: Amplifying Corporate Action in Landscapes

Small Room

The Nature Conservancy presents a panel that explores Colombia’s Orinoquía region as a case study of a landscape-scale approach to leveraging place-based and supply-chain strategies to achieve effective, durable conservation in a global biodiversity hotspot.

TNC recognizes that durable change occurs when initiatives are scaled to entire ecological systems, maximizing and incentivizing conservation and management at regional and national levels. This often runs counter to commodity-specific supply-chain strategies taken by companies. Here, TNC will share findings from a new report highlighting how landscape approaches help companies achieve multiple sustainability objectives. This will be followed by discussion of opportunities – and challenges – facing the Orinoquía region, featuring companies, commodity traders, industry associations, and conservationists critical to its conservation and development. By rooting this discussion in the host nation of Colombia, we expect to catalyze interest and action.
