To value nature and reward its management, we need a holistic mechanism that enables reliable outcomes-based transactions at scale, turning conservation and restoration into a formal and competitive economic activity. A roundtable led by African Parks.
African Parks, the largest conservation organization in Africa, together with partner, The Landbanking Group, have launched the Verifiable Nature Unit (VNU), an outcomes-based funding mechanism for nature. A VNU represents an annual “fiduciary-grade” claim of conserving or restoring nature. Following the first transactions, the aim is to continue building momentum by convening like-minded organisations to a roundtable to showcase that transparent outcomes-based nature funding is achievable and discuss how to accelerate progress. The objective is to build a coalition of pioneers to infuse initial outcomes-funding, dial-up networking and promotion support, and contribute expertise and advice in scaling and market development.
