Climate Resilient Protected and Conserved Areas (PCAs) for a Positive Future for Nature and People

Small Room

A Climate Resilient Future Must Include Climate Resilient Protected and Conserved Areas

More effective conservation strategies are needed to stop and reverse biodiversity loss, and these include strategies that result in climate resilient Protected and Conserved Areas. There is untapped mitigation and adaptation potential. The African Protected Area Directors network (APAD) unites African leaders who oversee Africa’s Protected Area authorities. APAD considers climate change impacts a threat to biodiversity within and beyond PCAs. This side event will explore APAD’s perspective on climate risks and solutions faced by PCAs. It will explore nature positive climate action, and pathways for PCAs to meet conservation goals in partnership with other State and Non-State Actors.
