Local Governments for Sustainability - ICLEI presents a panel discussion among city & region representatives & experts on the importance & challenges of biodiversity metrics & target setting at the urban & territorial scales to measure cities’ & regions’ contributions towards nature positive goals.
This panel discussion between subnational and local governments, and other stakeholders will address the value, gaps, and challenges faced in measuring their contributions to the GBF and nature positive goals. It will present platforms such as CitiesWithNature and RegionsWithNature, which are aligned to the GBF 2030 Targets, in supporting cities and regions achieve the nature positive goal. Additionally, it will explore tools such as the CBI and UNI, that allow cities to set baselines and targets. The event offers an opportunity to emphasize the need for whole-of-government and -society approaches to halt and reverse biodiversity loss and increase urban nature.
