The Nature Conservancy highlights the ocean's vital role in providing sustenance, employment, and protection for billions of individuals worldwide. This event showcases three exemplary case studies where ocean conservation efforts have effectively contributed to the objectives of the Global Biodiversity Framework.
The ocean runs through the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework and is relevant to almost every target of it. However, historically, the ocean has often been underrepresented in National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plans (NBSAPs) resulting in slower progress for the ocean than terrestrial ecosystems. As countries are finalizing their new NBSAPs there is an opportunity to change the trend. This event will support strong ocean action by sharing how three countries – Tanzania, Chile, and INSERT – have taken successful ocean action that can be replicated across the world.
