Join the latest events to have your say in the consultation for State of Nature Metrics

The Nature Positive Initiative is hosting several events at the Nature Positive Pavilion at the CBD's COP16.

The Nature Positive Initiative (NPI) is convening a diverse set of stakeholders from business, finance, standards setters, NGOs and more to build consensus on ​State of Nature Metrics ​to drive nature positive outcomes. The consultation is now open.

As part of this, the NPI is hosting several events at the Nature Positive Pavilion at the CBD’s COP16 in Cali, Colombia. Please see below for the full list of State of Nature metrics events, including more information and links to sign up.

21 October – Nature Positive Pavilion Opening Reception:

23 October – First Metrics Day:

Small Room

  • 8-9:30am – Nature Positive Metrics: Technical feedback on terrestrial metrics (Invite-only)

A session for technical specialists to provide and discuss feedback on the NPI’s state of nature metrics currently out for consultation. If you are an expert in this field and would like to participate, please express your interest here.

  • 9:30-10:45am – Nature Positive Metrics: Iterating freshwater metrics shortlists (Invite-only). 

A workshop for technical specialists to review and provide feedback on initial freshwater state of nature metrics shortlists. If you are an expert in this field and would like to participate, please express your interest here.

  • 11.15am-12:15pm – Nature Positive Metrics: Developing marine environment metrics (Invite-only) 

A workshop to discuss challenges and solutions for developing a state of nature metrics for the marine realm. If you are an expert in this field and would like to participate, please express your interest here.

  • 2-3pm – Introducing Universal, Nature Positive State of Nature Metrics

  • 3:30-4:30pm – Embedding nature positive state of nature metrics into existing frameworks, guidance, standards

  • 5-6pm – Accessible data: The key to practical measurement of nature outcomes

25 October – ‘Explaining Nature Positive’ Reception:

 

Meet NPI’s special guests and co-authors of our upcoming Nature Positive book, who will be kicking off the reception with a discussion on what Nature Positive means from different perspectives and why we need to collectively embrace and embed the term as we take action to halt and reverse biodiversity loss. 29 October – Second Metrics Day:

Small Room

  • 9-11am – Nature positive state of nature metrics: Drop-in session for consultants 

A short introduction to the Nature Positive Initiative’s state of nature metrics work and plans for piloting in 2025, followed by a Q&A and opportunity to chat with the NPI team. Limited places, please register here – only one attendee per organisation will be admitted.

  • 11:30am-12:30pm – Operationalizing state of nature metrics for businesses and financial institutions (Invite-only).

  • 2-3pm – Introducing Universal, Nature Positive State of Nature Metrics

  • 5-6pm – Incentivising and promoting a race to the top: a focus on investors and lenders
